Since its first steam locomotive in 1920, Hitachi has delivered award-winning 'A-trains' within Japan; Commuter service trains throughout USA, Brazil and Indonesia; High-speed "Shinkansen" (or bullet) trains reaching maximum speeds of 300km/h; and Tilt-trains whose active tilt control mechanism allow faster and more comfortable cornering speeds.
Various projects have provided important exposure to diverse markets. Including the first subway system in Korea. Partnerships with Sumitomo Corp., which supply Electric propulsion systems, Air break systems and Air conditioning units to Beijing Subway. And selection as 'preferred supplier' in 2004 to provide 30 high-speed A-trains to the UK Rail market, for the Channel Tunnel Rail link.
Since 1998, Queensland Rail have operated tilt-trains between Brisbane, Rockhampton and Cairns. For which Hitachi had provided traction systems, tilting control systems and tilting bogie parts.
Hitachi Ltd., incorporates a 'User experience research centre' within its design division. Regarding highly the customer experience. A standard of quality expected from the expertise between Hitachi and its project partners.
